Aviate was 7 Leaves Cafe’s head of marketing for about two years: social media, grand openings, the 2017 launch of the franchise program, and the grand openings for its first Northern California franchise locations.
What it is
Vietnamese-American coffee, tea and macaron cafes started by four brothers, Vinh, Quang, Son and Ha Nguyen, with partners Mai Ly, Denny Ly and Triet Ho. The first cafe opened in Westminster in January 2012 (LA Times, July 2, 2019).
What we did
For about two years early on, Aviate served as 7 Leaves’ head of marketing, covering social media and grand openings. In 2017, Aviate launched the 7 Leaves franchise program, then ran the grand openings for the first franchise locations in Northern California.

- Franchise program: The 7 Leaves website says the company “officially launched its franchising program” in 2017. A third-party summary of the 2021 franchise disclosure document says 7 Leaves Franchise, LLC was registered July 6, 2017.
- Orange County Tribune, Mar. 17, 2017: Counted nine locations, eight of them in Orange County.
- LA Times, July 2, 2019: Reported 22 locations across California, Nevada and Texas, 700 employees, and more than 1 million drinks a quarter, and that “the brand does not advertise, promoting its activities and openings only via social media.”
